Fish Water Conditioning

When transporting fish, the condition of the water plays a crucial role in their survival. Always use water from your fish’s current tank to fill the transport container, as it contains the correct pH, oxygen levels, and bacteria that your fish are accustomed to. To further ensure their safety, add a water conditioner to the container. This neutralizes harmful substances like chlorine or ammonia, which could accumulate during the trip.

During long journeys, oxygen depletion in the water is a common problem, so consider using a portable air pump to maintain oxygen levels. Keeping the water temperature consistent is also important, as fluctuations can stress or even harm the fish. Upon arrival, gradually introduce the fish to the new water environment by slowly mixing the new tank water with the water in the transport container.
